NYBCe for Generations to Come

Welcome to New York Blood Center's (NYBC) 2022 end-of-year campaign, and thank you for playing a part in saving lives like King and Mesiah. Making a financial donation to NYBC this year makes you a part of our groundbreaking work and is doing something different to impact our community.
King and Mesiah's family is thankful to have you standing with NYBCe, so their sons can be healthy and live their best lives. Your financial donation truly makes you part of these life-changing stories that take place daily in our community.
The challenges and obstacles facing the community blood supply have not ended as we transition to a post-pandemic world. But, with your financial support, the opportunities to continue our lifesaving work are endless. If you are unable to donate blood, your financial gift will make a difference!
**Note: Please be assured that all funds from your donation stay in NYBC's local Community.
Discover a Cause You Would Like to Fund
- NYBC Annual Fund
To deliver what matters most to our generous blood donors, blood drive sponsors, hospital and clinic partners, and others throughout the healthcare industry, funding is needed for everyday lifesaving operations. Your financial donation provides NYBC with the flexibility to allocate resources toward our most immediate needs, which allows us to provide the greatest impact for our community. With the blood donation landscape changing, NYBC faces increased expenditures related to operating our donor centers as well as expanding blood donor recruitment.
- Youth and Scholarship Programs
In the last five years, we’ve seen a 10% decrease in blood donations from 16-18 years old, and a 15% decrease from individuals 19-24 years old. High schools, colleges, and education sectors play a crucial role in supporting the local and national blood supply, which is why NYBCe is dedicated to educating and inspiring the youth community to become the next generation of blood donors and scientific leaders.
Your financial donation goes directly towards making a local and national impact in the youth community by enabling us to provide scholarship and leadership opportunities for students. Our scholarships and seminars foster leadership skills through volunteerism and community service, and exposure to STEM careers shaping the landscape of global healthcare and scientific discovery.
- New and Updated Blood Donor Centers
Prior to 2020, 75% of our blood donations were made at community blood drives and 25% at our donor centers. This shifted during the pandemic and has identified a need to build additional donor centers throughout our community to ensure that giving blood is convenient. Your financial donation, sponsorship, or naming opportunities will support the procurement of additional donor sites and upgrades to current centers. With your support, we can open additional donor centers in high-traffic areas around the tri-state area. A donated location with the opportunity for a long-term lease is optimal and individual and corporate donations allow us to maintain and upgrade our existing centers.
- New 2023 Blood Donor Bus
Donor buses allow us to serve communities that might not have a physical location to host a blood drive. Your major gift towards a Donor bus will allow NYBCe to provide blood donation access to an expanded population and diverse neighborhoods. Our buses can be branded with sponsor logos and/or graphics of the sponsor’s choosing, showcasing the sponsor’s commitment to public health and blood science throughout the tri-state area and other locales.
- Groundbreaking Research
Our scientific research focuses on new treatments and cures for disorders like blindness, Parkinson’s, and Alzheimer’s, through stem cell regeneration of human tissues and organs. We’re also developing prototypic SARS, MERS, and HIV vaccines and investigating linkages between the gut microbiome and the central nervous system. Notably, Karina Yazdanbakhsh, Ph.D., Vice President and Director of Research Development, is conducting research to prevent and treat sickle cell complications, including pain episodes and tissue injury. A sickle cell patient can require blood transfusions throughout their lifetime. Your financial support for NYBCe’s research helps achieve a healthier future for all.
- NYBCe Life Science Hub - Naming Opportunities
Our East Side life sciences hub will serve as the heart of the city’s life science innovation ecosystem and will ensure NYBCe can provide blood services for our hospitals; supercharge the city’s life science industry; create jobs and career pathways for underrepresented groups in the industry. NYBCe’s new Rye campus will also support life science and biotech, feature a new donor center, and will soon be under a multi-year renovation. Naming opportunities for both buildings will be available in 2023. To view our naming opportunities or to purchase an opportunity, visit nybc.org/NYBCLifeScienceHub.
